Si èspecializzato in Urologia ed Andrologia ha iniziato le prime esperienze laparoscopiche nel 1992 eseguendo la linfoadenectomia laparoscopica nel tumore prostatico.Nel Gennaio 2001 ha operato il primo paziente in Italia di prostatectomia radicale laparoscopica e nel settembre dello stesso anno il primo paziente di cistectomia radicale laparoscopica con neovescica ileale. Tre anni dopo eseguiva la prima prostatectomia radicale robotica in Italia e successivamente la prostatectomia laparoscopica con un solo accesso ombelicale (LESS)."
